Clausewitz talks more extensively about these points of attack: As we have seen, defense in general (including strategic defense) is not
an absolute state of waiting and repulse. It is not total, but only relatively passive endurance. Consequently, it is permeated with more or less pronounced elements of the offensive. In the same way, the attack is not a homogeneous whole: It is perpetually combined with defense.
