ABSTRACT
No vaccine currently marketed is perfect and consistently able to afford the highest level of protection to every single animal that receives it. The properties of an ideal vaccine should include: • Being inexpensive to produce in large quantity. • Being consistent in formulation with minimal
variation between batches. • Being stable without a requirement for
specialized storage conditions (e.g. refrigeration). • Having a long shelf-life. • Being able to induce the most appropriate
type of immune response to afford protection from infection with the specific organism under consideration.
