ABSTRACT

Alcohol elimination occurs at a constant rate in each individual. The median rate of decrease in BAC is generally accepted as around 15 mg percent (mg%) per hour, but the actual range is 10-20 mg% per hour, although the extremes are rarely encountered except in chronic alcoholics. The elimination rate in the vast majority of individuals is between 13 and 18 mg% per hour, with the majority of values lying at the higher end of the curve. Very few people eliminate alcohol at a rate as low as 10 mg% per hour.
