ABSTRACT
A matrix with one row or one column is sometimes referred to as a vector. Though closely related, matrix algebra should not, however, be confused with the handling of vectors. In the context of this chapter, a vector is a quantity such as velocity that has both magnitude and direction, while a scalar is a quantity that has magnitude but no direction.
