ABSTRACT

European and US guidelines on asymptomatic Mobitz type I atrioventricular block. European guidelines support pacing for acquired asymptomatic Mobitz type I atrioventricular block as a class IIa indication. However, American guidelines advise against permanent pacemaker implantation for asymptomatic Mobitz type  I atrioventricular block at the AV node level (or which is not known to be intra-or infraHisian) (class III indication). When the block is infranodal (as identified by electrophysiological  testing) there is a stronger indication for pacing.
