ABSTRACT
In reference to blood cultures , there are two important facts not universally known . First , when a severe infection exists , there will usually bc an accompanying hacteremia, with the pathogen frequently in the L-t'orm . Secondly, the organism in the blood often prefers the blood as a source of nutrition, in contrast to any commercial medium.
