ABSTRACT

Lean in the office has finally arrived! We, the authors, have dedicated the last five years to creating, documenting, and improving the adaptation of lean practices into the administrative area-the office itself. Consider that 60 to 80 percent of all cost associated with meeting a customer demand-whether it be a part manufactured or a work request (i.e., an insurance claim, employee application, invoice, order, quote, or engineering drawing)—is an administrative function. The results-getting more work through in less time, and with greater ease-are nothing less than amazing and real!
