ABSTRACT
Many applications of the calculus of several variables lead to equations involving partial derivatives with respect to a specific system of coordinates
which is usually determined by the nature of the application. For various
reasons, it often becomes necessary to change to a different system of co-
ordinates, so it is important to know how the partial derivatives involved
transform. The purpose of this section is to examine this problem and to
establish the rules by which such transformations may be accomplished.
