ABSTRACT
Given a differentiable function F(x ), we already know that the process of finding its derivative F ?(x ) is called differentiation. If we denote the derivative of F (x) by f(x ), then
F ?(x)f (x)
or, equivalently,
dF
dx f (x):
The reverse of this process is called antidifferentiation, or integration, and
given a function f(x ) it involves finding a function F (x ) whose derivative equals f(x). The function F (x) is then called an antiderivative of f(x ).
