In thischapter, thebasicformulationofthetwo-dimensional(2D)slope stabilitymethodwillbediscussed. Moreadvancedformulationandrelated problemswillbecoveredinChapter3. Currently, thetheoryandsoftware for 2D slope stability analysis are rather mature, but there are still some importantandnewndingsthatwillbediscussedinthischapter.
