ABSTRACT
Family HEPIALIDAE (swift moths) Primitive, medium-sized moths, with vestigial mouthparts and short antennae. Larvae have welldeveloped legs, with crochets on the abdominal prolegs forming several concentric circles. Swift moth larvae are soil-inhabiting; they feed on the roots of various wild and cultivated plants.
