ABSTRACT

According to the contemporary requests for higher education institutions’ workow improvement, deployment of the appropriate strategies is found to be very important (Jacobs and Van Der Ploeg 2006). Therefore, business processes reengineering (BPR) within higher education institutions represents a paradigm shift that mainly refers to segments such as teaching, student service affairs, scientic research, and logistics (Srikanthan and Dalrymple 2003). In historical terms, the implementation of new ways of business system organization and operation became possible after information technologies had made a signicant development. The previous theories of business development were established upon guiding principles such as

• Formation of separated organizational subunits charged with specialized tasks • Assignation of the tasks to single-discipline specialized operators • Generation of the conicting work goals between organizational subunits

With time, mentioned business guidelines became limiting factors for organizational growth and sustainability, since the old-established business development model had to deal with internal competition between organizational subunits instead of being focused on prot. On the contrary, according to the contemporary business development model, a holistic approach to business processes is implied. In contrast to the older model, the BPR is focused on continual business process

integration, which leads to business efciency enhancement (MacIntosh 2003). Thus, a successful workow followed by the growth of the education institutions is ensured. Thereby, each organizational subunit is perceived as a part of an overall system. and the business process is performed by teamwork. The success of BPR implementation is assessed through business efciency improvement, beneciaries’ satisfaction increase, and preservation of top management and employees’ interests therewithal, and it does not refer to simple automation of the process.
