ABSTRACT

As an example, for a reactor operating at steady-state operating conditions 8.3), if two streams are in and one stream is going out, the experimentally measured mass flow rates of these streams have to satisfy the material balance. If the reactor is a heavy oil upgrader, the experimentally measured masses of elemental carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, sulfur, and oxygen have to satisfy similar balance constraints. As a result, the experimentally measured mass flow rates and compositions have to be corrected to satisfy these constraints.
