ABSTRACT
Neither perfect mixing nor plug flow can be achieved in real reactors on the laboratory, pilot, or commercial scale. Axial flow would always be accompanied by axial mixing as a result of turbulence or Taylor-Aris diffusion taking place in the flow system.
