ABSTRACT
The proper operation of a transmission system depends on protective equipment to detect fault conditions and disconnect malfunctioning equipment. The protective equipment must protect p eople and power system apparatus from malfunctions, whether the malfunction is the result of an equipment failure, accidents, weather, or misoperations by the personnel involved. The most important protective equipment for transmission system are CBs, disconnect switches, and relays to sense fault conditions.
