Black bag operations, are covert or surreptitious entries for the purposes of intelligence gathering. is may be national security intelligence, military intelligence, law enforcement investigations, or business and industrial intelligence. Domestic spying (as opposed to foreign spying) is only legal when conducted pursuant to a valid, legal search warrant, wiretap order, or similar legal requirement (subject to probable cause) and after meeting any other strict statutory requirements. Such operations are subject to very strict laws when conducted domestically.
