ABSTRACT

On November 26, 2005, the Stanford Cardinals lost the last home game of their football season to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 38-31, with the Irish taking the lead for the final time with 55 seconds left in the game. The loss was particularly bitter for Stanford, whose 84-year-old stadium began demolition immediately after that game, as three backhoes and three dump trucks rolled onto the field and began ripping up the turf.1
