ABSTRACT

The background of this chapter relates to analyzing the output of a simulation study. The random nature of a simulation output is certainly dependent on the nature of the input and the probability distributions used in the study for various parameters. However, sufcient literature is available on a simple output analysis of a simulation study [1]. But the steady-state behavior of various processes related to the simulation output has not been discussed in sufcient detail. Therefore, this chapter discusses various stochastic processes and their steady-state behaviors. The target is to present the readers with a clear understanding of the various stochastic processes and their behaviors in simple terms without much mathematical details so that readers of any background can understand the terms and concepts. Before presenting the steady-state conditions in various disciplines, let us rst look at the idea of “steady state.”
