ABSTRACT

An intraorganizational ES is aimed at providing a higher-level system, which is related to activities that involve the coordination of business processes within the organization and which is able to provide an integrated architecture to the

organization for enhancing its organizational performance. It is a system to streamline the data flow among the different functions in an enterprise. Modern business needs drive enterprises to more frequently link and share internal business processes and applications with external business partners. In such an environment, an enterprise must integrate with the business environments and must efficiently utilize information integration technology in order to be able to share data and information with all related parties. Interorganizational systems enable communication between the partners in the supply chain. Such systems can collect valuable SCM information for all related business processes across the entire supply chain. Using integrated SCM, businesses can align their operations across global networks. In recent years, efforts have been focused on the integration of interorganizational systems, and consequently, more and more enterprises have moved toward an interorganizational integration that supports SCM through ESs, in order to respond to the rapidly changing environment. The DAMA project is just such an endeavor. DAMA has developed an interenterprise architecture and collaborative model, which enables improved collaboration in business across supply chains.
