ABSTRACT

Today’s business takes place in a collaborative environment. Collaboration can take a variety of forms, including intra-and interorganizational collaborations. To realize the collaboration, enterprises recognize the necessity to implement integrated enterprise systems, which can integrate their intra-and interorganizational business processes. During the past decade, enterprise systems have emerged as a promising tool for integrating and extending business functions and processes across the boundaries of organizations. In general, enterprise processes that were not designed as interoperable need to be integrated on an intra-and interorganizational basis. Enterprise systems (1) provide a single system that is central to the organizations and (2) ensure that information can be shared among all partners in the supply chain. An enterprise system is composed of a suite of modules and applications. An enterprise can build an enterprise system platform through integrating a number of modules and applications. In general, enterprise systems provide a platform that enables industrial organizations to integrate and coordinate their business processes. Enterprise systems are considered to be a revolutionary advance in the continuous evolution of computer applications in the business and industry.
