ABSTRACT
Invention in reinforced concrete started in the mid-nineteenth century with Joseph Lambot’s boat (Figure 1.1) and continues to our day. The brief view of the history of reinforced concrete in this chapter is intended to emphasize to the student that there is still room for creativity in uses of reinforced concrete.
