ABSTRACT
Mathematics is the science that deals with the logic of shape, quantity, and
their changes or dynamics. Mathematics may be studied in its own right (pure
mathematics) or as it is applied to other disciplines (applied mathematics, e.g.,
statistics). The so-called experimental mathematics, in which numerical com-
putation is used to investigate mathematical objects and identify properties
and patterns, can do what pure and applied mathematics do. There is a range
of views as to the exact scope and definition of mathematics.
