ABSTRACT

The solutions of Laplace equation are called harmonic functions. These harmonic functions enjoy certain properties that are quite useful in obtaining a variety of solutions to practical problems. Here, we are interested in solutions to a number of engineering problems related to the movement of groundwater. In this regard, the so-called method of images is of immense usefulness in solving the boundary-value problems governed by the Laplace equation-especially when the boundary conditions are those that are often encountered in practice, but are not readily amenable to analysis.
