Let us analyse the framework by starting at the output side. There are two different types of unwanted results of accidents:
'" 'Material' losses including injury to people, damage to the environment and property damage, and
• Immaterial losses such as damage to the reputation of the responsible
organisation (company), pain and suffering of the involved persons and a reduced quality of life in general in the area affected by an environmental accident.
