ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we will look into the establishment and use of accident and ncar-accident databases. Experience stored in such databases will help us in answering questions like:
" What arc the characteristics of our accidents? can we learn from them? Has this type of accident occurred before? Are there any particular accidents with this machine that we need to consider when buying a new machine? Where shall we allocate resources to prevent accidents? What are the causes of our accidents? What has been done to prevent the accidents? What is the status of the relnedl,,! actions that have been decided?
