ABSTRACT

During recent years, there has been a breakthrough in the area of SHE information systems mainly within large companies in highly hazardous industries. Experience transfer between companies and peer pressure at the top management levels has driven this breakthrough. It has manifested through increased focus on SHE performance. We see intensified activities in these companies in the areas of accident and near-accident reporting, management inspections, audits, computer-supported feedback and followup, etc. Many companies report significant reductions in their accident frequency rates as a consequence of this development.
