ABSTRACT

The development of collaborative working in the National Health Service Before the National Health Service (NHS) was created in 1948, there were clear divisions between community health, general practitioners (GPs), hospital care and social services, and this continued with the inception of the NHS. This was despite early recognition of the importance of collaborative working in the Beveridge Report of 1942. You can hear Sir William Beveridge speaking on the BBC about his proposals for a new welfare state (https://www.bbc.co.uk/archive/nhs/5139.shtml).
