ABSTRACT

Chapter 4 outlined the most widely used measures to achieve optimal outcomes. is chapter explores the decision space for determining the best combination of these techniques for project types within the R&D environment, outlining how to know which ones to use and when. When inappropriate measures are used or when measurements are made at too low a level, suboptimal outcomes can result. For R&D projects, the use of inappropriate measures may drive behavior that sties the project’s progress. e chapter also describes how to use the measurements to actively manage the R&D project.
