ABSTRACT
Carbohydrates (carbon hydrates, Cn(H2O)n, hence their name), are the most abundant class of organic compounds found in living organisms. They originate as products of photosynthesis: condensation of carbon dioxide requiring light, energy, and the pigment chlorophyll.
