ABSTRACT

The economics of recycled water is assuming increasing importance as more agencies are adding recycled water to their water resources portfolios to make up for potable water shortages. This is especially true in the arid southwestern United States and in many parts of Florida and Texas. In many cases, regulations require the use of recycled water for irrigation if it is available and reasonably priced. While it is important to understand the true cost of service, there are many economic issues associated with the production and sale of recycled water.
