ABSTRACT
The application of ultrasound to the processing of liquids and slurries has a long history. This chapter gives a very sketchy overview of the plethora of experimental and theoretical work that has been done on ultrasound and its applications before the 1970s, which creates the foundation for the research reported in this book.
