ABSTRACT

Nrf2 (Nf-e2-related factor 2-like 2) is a transcription factor that is a central mediator of the adaptive response to endogenous and exogenous oxidative or electrophilic stresses (Kensler et al., 2007). It belongs to the family of the cap n’ collar transcription factors with a basic leucine zipper along with its invertebrate homologues SKN-1 (Caenorhabditis elegans) and CncC (Drosophila melanogaster). They are all of essential importance in cytoprotective responses against stressors (Sykiotis and Bohmann, 2010; Kobayashi and Yamamoto, 2006). Nrf2 structurally consists of six conserved Nrf2-ECH homology domains (Neh 1-6). Small avian
