ABSTRACT

Sesquiterpene lactone aglycones inhibited various cultured cell growth in a dose-dependent manner as indicated by MTT assay. The possible mechanism of cytotoxicity was investigated on aglycones with the observation that they could affect DNA replication by inhibiting the ssDNA binding activity of replication protein A with the use of simian virus (SV40) DNA in vitro replication system. Furthermore, it was also revealed in cell cycle analysis that aglycones could arrest A549 cells in G2-M phase.1
