ABSTRACT

This book is about the design of experiments and the analysis of data arising in biological and agricultural sciences, using the statistical techniques of analysis of variance (ANOVA) and regression modelling. These techniques are appropriate for analysis of many (although not all) scientic studies and form an important basic component of the statistician’s toolbox. Although we provide some of the mathematical formulae associated with these techniques, we have also tried to interpret the equations in words and to give insight into the underlying principles. We hope that this will make these useful statistical methods more accessible.
