So you have read this far. If you think you fit the bill and want to spend a portion of your career in private service, what’s next? We will assume that you are a competent and experienced chef. Your first step would be to simplify and organize your life so that you are ready to go; things can move quickly in the private service world. The next step is to decide whether you are interested in estate work or yacht work because these are the two main venues for your career choice. If you are a stable and balanced person who likes a routine and the ability to have somewhat of a home life, you may want to try the estates. If you are an adrenalin junkie filled with wanderlust, don’t mind cooking in an environment that at times ranges from miniature golf to a circus, do not mind living with others in tight quarters, and can handle plans changing minute by minute, maybe it’s yachts for you. In short: ADHD = yachts, no ADHD = estates.
