ABSTRACT

The particular importance of the numerical methods for solving ordinary differential equations (ODEs) or systems thereof is due to the fact that many of the laws of nature are conveniently expressed in differential form. The classical equations of particle motion, the equations of mass diffusion or heat transport, or Schrödinger’s wave equation are just a few examples illustrating the extraordinary diversity of essentially different physical phenomena, which are modeled by way of differential equations.
