ABSTRACT

A lot of high-fl own rhetoric around clinical quality and patient safety issues has been expended at health care industry conferences and by leaders of all stakeholder groups, around those issues. But what is emerging-and more rapidly than might even have been anticipated a few years ago-is a much more grounded trajectory of activity and actions on the part of purchasers and payers, and one that is leaving many hospital and health system leaders struggling to catch up to developments.
