ABSTRACT
There are many terms that can describe waste stream reduction. Environmentally friendly, sustainable, and green are some of the most common, but these seem to suggest that the environment is something that is external, and that we are somehow acting altruistically when we minimize the environmental impact of our lives. Our resource usage is integrated into that environment, and relies on the sustainability of those natural resources in order to keep functioning. We are in turn reliant on it for our continued survival.
