ABSTRACT

Portfolio selection is the process of selecting the components (projects, programs, and other work) that make up the portfolio mix of the organization (Project Management Institute (PMI), 2013b). ere are many ways in which this can be done. At the one extreme, projects are selected because an executive in the organization feels that the project is important. On the other end of the scale there are complicated mathematical methods that can be used to select the portfolio. Whichever method is used, the goal of the organization is to select those portfolio components that will deliver the best possible business results for the organization.
