There is no model of a kind similar to the triple-link model that could be used to assess the validity of the widely accepted two-source hypothesis for synoptic relationships (see Figure 1.2) or to compare its goodness of fit with that of the triple-link model, because we have no surviving text of the hypothetical Q source from which transmission probabilities of words could be calculated in the way that we have done for the triple-link model.
