ABSTRACT
Filters are the basis for many types of audio effects. In this chapter, we’ll look at the basics of designing digital filters. We will show how many of the most important digital filters can be derived from the simplest possible designs. Several types of filters are commonly used in audio effects for manipulating the frequency content of the signal. These filters, in their ideal form, are depicted in Figure 3.1.
