ABSTRACT
Bariatric surgery, and in particular, the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), has unquestionable benets in obese patients with diabetes mellitus. Resolution of diabetes has occurred in up to 85% of patients after this procedure. A substantial improvement in glucose control is noted, even in those in whom diabetes resolution does not occur.
