ABSTRACT

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa Korth.) is a tree native to areas of Southeast Asia, namely Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Indonesia. The plant is also known as ithang, krathom, kakuam, and thom (Thailand), biak or ketum (Malaysia), and mambog (Philippines). Its leaves have historically been used for recreational and medicinal purposes.
