ABSTRACT
We have employed theoretical constructs from general systems and selforganizing systems theory in an attempt to understand how communities change through time, what happens when a community system experiences a major disturbance, and how a disaster unfolds. Based on eld research, we have described the real problems that arise for real people in real places. Here, we focus on what constitutes community disaster recovery.
