ABSTRACT
Japanese business leader and Toyota executive credited with developing the Toyota Production System. Also considered by some to be the "father" of the kanban system as a result of his observation of supermarket operations on a visit to the U.S. in 1956 and his subsequent work regarding continuous supply of materials to supermarket shelves.
