ABSTRACT
Something done incorrectly through a misunderstanding or as a result of an unreliable or unstable process, and not corrected. An error is likely to occur when any of the conditions necessary for successful processing are wrong or absent. The resulting departure from correct performance causes a defect. Note that in mistake-proofing terminology an error is not the same as a defect.
