ABSTRACT
Tolerance for erotic art has varied throughout history. Though it may seem as if society has become more tolerant of deviant sexuality and erotica, some ancient cultures valued hard-core depictions. In ancient Greece, Rome, and India, depictions were publicly displayed that could be considered criminally obscene in some U.S. jurisdictions.
