ABSTRACT

IASs must be proactive and collaborate with operators in order to achieve overall system goals and operate efficiently and effectively in complex and dynamic environments. To better understand how the operator relates to an overall IAS, the system can be seen as a corporation, and the operator as the board of directors that governs it. The concepts outlined in Chapter 2, the conceptual architecture discussed in Chapter 3, and the analytical techniques noted in Chapter 4 are practical tools that should help systems designers as they design IASs.
