IF ψ1(t, x) and ψ2(t, x) are travelling waves residing in the same 1-d medium, THEN, according to our model of dispersionless propagation, each moves independently [unperturbed by the other’s presence] AND the net disturbance produced in the medium is obtained by linear superposition:
