ABSTRACT
This chapter gives examples and simulation models in MATLAB® Simulink® of a number of optically ampli—ed transmission systems employing advanced modulation formats amplitude shift keying (ASK), differential phase shift keying (DPSK), differential quadrature phase shift keying (DQPSK), minimum shift keying (MSK), and Star-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) with optically ampli—ed spans using either Er:doped —ber ampli-—ers (EDFAs) or distributed ROAs. In the Appendix, we give guidance for the uses of these models whose MATLAB Simulink codes can also be downloaded from CRC Press website. The Appendix gives some guidelines for using and modeling with MATLAB Simulink.
